A Few Comments on Methodology...

This learning activity is designed to:

  • facilitate a high degree of dialogue between students, their peers and their instructors.
  • encourage students to pose questions about their current research practices.
  • evaluate information sources.
  • develop strategies for finding academic materials on specific topics...

    ...Recognizing that due to the complexity of language and the varied systems used to organize information there is no "one size fits all" search strategy.

Why Teach This Way?

  • Learning requires active engagement in mentally challenging exercises.

 

  • Learning is social. We construct meaning when learning in environments that support social interaction with peers engaged in similar learning activities. 

 

  • Learning has to be relevant. Learning processes should include tasks that students believe will help them achieve personal goals.
